The National Building Museum presents a one-of-a-kind destination for visitors, an interactive architectural installation that brings the quintessential summer experience of going to the beach to downtown Washington, D.C. Spanning across the Museum’s Great Hall, the BEACH, created in partnership with Snarkitecture, will cover 10,000 square feet and include an “ocean” of nearly one million recyclable translucent plastic balls.
Brooklyn-based studio Snarkitecture has created a huge ball pit with one million recyclable translucent plastic balls in an effort to bring the beach indoors. The interactive installation called ‘The Beach’ covers 10,000 square feet of the National Building Museum in Washington DC. Following Snarkitecture’s signature monochromatic look, the installation includes white beach chairs and umbrellas beside the huge ball pit to help it feel like you are at the seaside.
‘The Beach’ is open to visitors till September as part of the museum’s ‘Summer Block Party’ programme. Watch the video below and head over here to find out more about the installation.
